PMM Plate System
| Optimized for the detection of anaerobic microorganisms |
Optimized for the detection of aerobic microorganisms |
| Incubation of plates under anaerobic conditions (e.g., anaerobic jar) | Reduced gas exchange |
| Improved gas exchange with the incubation environment |
Reduced risk of contamination |
| Reduced risk of agar dehydration |
Do's and Don'ts
| Risk | Recommendation |
| Agar Dehydration | Use VENT position only for incubation in anaerobic conditions (e.g., anaerobic jar) |
| Make sure that the plates are closed in the desired position before incubating them | |
| Prevent the incubator´s airflow from blowing directly into the gap between the lid and the base of the plates | |
| Contamination | Close the lid in CLOSED position after sampling and move the lid to VENT position only immediately before incubation |
Important to Remember
- Do not press, either on the lid or on the side of the plate to avoid the risk of contamination.
- Consider incubating the plates in boxes or sterile bags (e.g., gamma bags) if they lose more than 25% of their weight during incubation or in case of secondary contamination.
